Bunurong Memorial Park

Client SMCT
Location Dandenong South, Victoria

Project Description

The Challenge:

The Southern Memorial Cemeteries Trust has engaged CJ Arms to plan the further development of their Bunurong Memorial Park at Bangholme. Our master plan for this 101 hectare site is to create a sustainable landscaped environment, underpinned by chains of wetlands, watercourses and lakes that treat, convey and harvest the site’s stormwater runoff.

Our Solution:

A planned network of roads throughout the site will provide vehicular access for visitors and the park’s maintenance. These roads will define individual parcels of land for future burial site development. By sculpting the surface profile of these parcels between the road network and the water chains, maximum stormwater runoff for Bunurong is generated. The harvested stormwater will be a valuable and cost-effective resource for the ongoing irrigation and maintenance of the park environment. Importantly the profiled surfaces also ensure for burial sites with an aesthetic outlook onto the impressive water bodies.

The Results:

This is an ongoing project and we look forward to sharing the outcomes of this exciting development.
